Veronica has had a very long and very turbulent history. Starting off as the off-shore radio station VRON (Vrije Radio Omroep Nederland) in november of 1960, its name is quickly changed into radio Veronica, until it is closed down by the Dutch government in 1971. They lost the battle, but not the war. In 1973, radio Veronica reappeared as an official public broadcaster using the name VOO (Veronica Omroep Organisatie) until 1995 when they decide to leave the public broadcasting system and to become a commercial station in the HMG group, owned by CLT, under their original name "Veronica". Disagreements between Veronica and CLT meant an end to this agreement in 1999, when the Veronica channel was rebranded as "Yorin". Veronica is now starting experiments with SBS, Fox and MTV but none of these prove to be satisfactory. After a few years of a shallow existing with very poor results, Veronica decides to become a full partner of SBS/Sky Radio, returning on-screen in full force on september 20 2003.
