The 4:30 Movie

Each day at 4:30, when the soap operas ended but before Roger and Bill came on with the news, channel 7 came alive with this title sequence for the aptly-named 4:30 Movie. Produced in an era before computers, this brilliantly designed and executed sequence rotated around the silhouette of a moving cameraman, into the lens and a sea of circle-7s, and back out to reveal the title. The same splendid titles were also used for the Saturday Night Movie. Running from 1968 to 1981, the 90-minute time slot was home to many things – westerns, comedies, and even high-profile made for TV movies. But a generation of New Yorkers remember it for the B movies, home to Vincent Price, Godzilla, and Ray Harryhausen, to name just a few. (Thanks to dvddrive-in.com for information on the 4:30 movie)
