Europa was a short lived pan European general entertainment channel broadcast in English with other programming with English subtitles. It was established by the EBU between 5 broadcasters – ARD, NOS, RAI, RTE and RTP. Dutch, German and Portuguese languages were also available on audio sub-carriers. Europa transmitted between 18.00 to 22.30 CET. Poor scheduling and lack of advertising attributed to the channel's demise It started broadcasting on 5th October 1985, it ceased transmission in December 1986
