BBC News Bulletins 1981 – 1985

In September 1981, another cross bulletin branding came into effect for all BBC News output. Nick-named ‘the chinese lantern’ it would have variants of the stripes for each programme. A new theme tune was introduced for the opening and closing of programmes.

Some examples of BBC News’ handmade paper graphics that were produced with Letraset, a far cry from computer graphics these days!
