Only When I Laugh

Roy Figgis (James Bolam) is a long-term patient in an NHS hospital. Joining him are fellow patients, Archie Glover (Peter Bowles) and Norman Binns (Christopher Strauli), who all suffer from severe hypochondria. The trio consistently find themselves in troublesome situations and struggle to conduct themselves appropriately. Dr. Gordon Thorpe (Richard Wilson), and Gupte (Derrick Branche), the ward orderly, are constantly challenged by the antics of the three patients and, in turn, serve as a source of irritation for the trio. A total of 29 episodes were broadcast over 4 series between 1979 and 1982.
