BBC News Channel 2008 – 2013

April 21st 2008 and BBC News 24 is rebranded “BBC News Channel” as the corporation’s research shows most people refer to the channel as “News 24” and not “BBC News” also it’s understood the public feel News 24 is inferior to the main TV news bulletins, so the name change is to address these issues and hammer home “BBC NEWS”.

This rebrand including all national, english regions and BBC World News cost £550,000 At the core of the brand is a new red globe symbol which has pulsating Saturn type rings. David Lowe’s pulsating beats theme tune has also been given a new mix. The look was designed by Lambie Nairn, commissioned by Mark Byford, the corporations deputy director-general. Instead of completely different look, the design feels very much of a refresh of the 1999 corporate look, pulsating rings and geographical place names are back, but on white backgrounds, instead of cream.
