RTÉ ONE broadcasts its main news bulletins at 1.00pm (weekdays only), 6.01pm and 9.00pm every day. Short bulletins also feature regularly during the daytime schedule and before or around midnight. The reason why the early evening bulletin, usually known as the "Six One", begins at 6.01pm, rather than 6.00pm, is because RTÉ ONE broadcasts The Angelus, a traditional Roman Catholic prayer, at 6.00pm. In previous years, the Angelus was broadcast with stills of iconic Catholic imagery, but in recent years, RTÉ have produced various films which reflect a broader representation of a multi-cultural modern Irish society. An Irish language bulletin, Nuach RTÉ is broadcast at 5.45pm every day before the "Six One". Since 2009, Nuacht RTÉ bulletins have been broadcast from TG4's studios in County Galway (RTÉ provide TG4 with their news bulletins at no cost as part of their obligation to provide TG4 with 365 hours of programming a year). RTÉ and TG4's news programmes often share presenting and reporting staff.
