Art Attack

Art Attack was the award-winning big art show that gave your eyeballs a shock. Its original presenter, Neil Buchanan, devised the concept of an art show for children (aged 4 to 16) to help them overcome the ‘I can’t do that’ barrier. While the late Tony Hart explained the technical details on BBC, Neil created large-scale big pictures for Children’s ITV. David Tasker, an in-house TVS graphic designer, created Art Attack’s original logo with the same effect using plasticine. Mr. Miller and Mr. Porter composed the show’s title music. In addition to nineteen series and 301 editions, Neil created five Christmas specials called the Art Attack Christmas Cracker, which featured festive big Art Attacks in America (twice), Barbados, and Austria. The show aired for fifteen series and fourteen years after TVS lost their franchise to Meridian Broadcasting. The final edition aired in May 2007 after a 17-year run, following an announcement by ITV plc that all in-house children’s programmes would be decommissioned.
