East Ender Tony Carpenter was a self-made millionaire whose troubles stemmed from his marriage to his socially-superior wife Ruth (Judy Buxton). Dennis Waterman starred as Tony who had all the trappings of success, including the big house in Surrey, membership of the golf club and faithful staff.
