Set in Boston’s South End, ‘St. Elsewhere’ is a drama centred around St. Eligius, a deteriorating urban teaching hospital. The nickname ‘St. Elsewhere’ is medical slang for hospitals catering to less desirable patients or non-teaching institutions. The series boasts a notable cast including Ed Begley Jr., William Daniels (known as the voice of K.I.T.T. in Knight Rider), Denzel Washington, and Howie Mandel (host of the US ‘Deal Or No Deal’). It spanned 137 episodes and was broadcast on Channel 4 in the UK.
