BBC Corporate Logo 2022 – Present
The BBC launched a new corporate logo in 2022. Although it was soft launched in Australia and America with the launch of BBC Kids and BBC Select channels in 2021. Designed by Wolf Olins the rebrand cost a reported £7.26 million to implement across the BBC’s portfolio of products and tv channels.
New icons and logos were designed for BBC core services such as iPlayer and BBC Sounds. The BBC said. “we wanted to modernise all aspects of our services so the experience feels coherent wherever you access our content” adding that it wanted to “join the dots” between the different BBC services “through simplified layouts and graphics”.
At TVARK we rather like the logo especially the way it now has life and animates on and off the screen, unlike any previous logos. The new service icons are nice making use of the 3 BBC blocks, but can’t help thinking the iPlayer icon is really thin in weight compared to the other service icons.
