BBC TV Start Up

The BBC TV Service would start-up at 3pm, 5pm and 8pm. Afternoons were for women's programmes, teatime transmission was for children and the evening transmission for entertainment. The sequence would start on the clock, fading into the BBC coat of arms followed by a shot of The Houses of Parliament and the River Thames in London during the daytime or at night. After the programmes finished for that transmission slot, the BBC TV Service would closedown and end on a caption "The End"
