TVS Television 1989 – 1992 Branding

TVS restructured following the purchase of the American company MTM. As a result the parent company became known as TVS Entertainment, leaving the TV station with a clumsier title – TVS Television. By 1989 MTM reported recorded loses which resulted in TVS confirmeing its profits were down 35%, which resulted in 140 UK redundancies. Futher changes took place during 1990, with James Gatward resigning. The TVS Television board was merged into the TVS Entertainment board, allowing for a further 100 redundancies to help strengthen the finances.

On 1st September 1989 TVS presentation was given a refresh as part of John Hayman plan to softened the edges on his 1987 ident designs.

TVS In-Vision Continuity

As part of TVS revamp, Late Night Late was also given new look. The service continued until August 1991, when it was dropped in favour of a new generic service provide by Thames and LWT.
