The American Professionals

From 1981 to 1997, TBS used what was known as "Turner Time". Instead of shows beginning at :00 and :30, TBS scheduled programs to start at :05 or :35. This was a very clever promotional tactic – by starting 5 minutes later, TBS programmes were listed under their own heading in TV Guide. Channel surfers were encouraged to turn to TBS if they couldn't find something good on the other networks, and because the shows started five minutes late, channel surfers were encouraged to keep watching TBS. Turner Time was dropped in 1997, and shows now start at the traditional :00 and :30 times.
