BBC1 Drama – Tenko

Tenko was a joint production between the BBC and Australian ABC and shown between 1981 and 1984. It concerns a group of women and children who have been captured by the Japanese following their advance through south east asia. Highlighting the appalling conditions and treatment faced by these civilians, it makes extremely harrowing and distressing viewing. The name Tenko comes from Japanese word meaning roll-call.
