The Spider's Web isn't an adaptation of an Agatha Christie novel, but a production of a play which she wrote in 1954 at the request of its original star, Margaret Lockwood. It is second only to The Mousetrap in length of run. The early 1980s saw a revival of interest in Christie, with LWT producing Why Didn't They Ask Evans (1980), The Secret Adversary and then Partners in Crime (83-84). The BBC's Miss Marple, with Joan Hickson, starting in 1984.
