The Bill was the only show to survive following the loss of Thames' franchise in 1992 and was made right up until 31st August 2010. How different, how dynamic it became in comparison to its slow-paced origins in 1983, and the launch series of weekly, hour-long episodes in 1984. These are the titles and credits to "The Drugs Raid" which was originally transmitted 20th November 1984. By this time, a format change to two half-hours per week, notched up the pace, as did the enhancement of Morgan and Pask's theme tune, Overkill. In the latter days, vast numbers of episodes spilt out from the Merton-based production.
