BBC North West Branding

The BBC North West region was launched on November 30, 1969. This regional service covers the North West of England and provides news and local documentaries. Here’s how the BBC has looked in the North West over the years.

BBC North West Symbol ~ Before the introduction of the regional BBC1 globe in 1974, each of the BBC regions had a graphic symbol as their tv ident. The image shown on the left is courtesy of Francois Frappe. Francois took this black and white photo of a transmission from the Winter Hill transmitter in 1971. The image on the right is reconstruction of the BBC North West arrow symbol ident.
