KTLA-TV

KTLA was the first television station west of the Mississippi River – launching in September of 1942 under the call sign W6XYZ. Today, the station offers a morning news, a 10pm news, several local programmes, and LA Clippers (NBA) and LA Dodgers (Baseball) telecasts. It is also the west coast flagship station of the WB.

KTLA was the pre-eminent independent station in LA, beginning life as a subsidiary of Paramount Pictures. It was soon sold to western star Gene Autry’s Golden West Broadcasters. Tribune bought Golden West in 1986.
