Sharon Gless and Tyne Daly star in the very popular drama series following two female New York detectives. It debuted in 1981 as a tv movie, with Loretta Switt (M*A*S*H) as Cagney, with Gless taking over in 1982 when the show was aired as a replacement for the recently cancelled "Lou Grant" series. It ran for a mere 6 episodes but was revived as the series we know and love in the spring of 1984. The theme is by the godfather of TV and Film themes, Bill Conti.
