Doctor Who

The Five Doctors was the 20th anniversary special of Doctor Who, shown on Saturday 25th November 1983 as part of the BBC’s Children In Need appeal for that year. North American broadcasters who aired the programme on weekday evenings broadcast the special on the programme’s actual anniversary of 23rd November but a minute’s worth of action was trimmed from the feature’s 90 minutes and 23 seconds, to fit safely inside rigid American time slots.

The special features a charming, posthumous monologue from departed first Doctor William Hartnell prior to the opening titles. The clip was taken from from the 1964 serial ‘The Dalek Invasion of Earth’.
