Birmingham Doctors needed a brand-new opening title sequence when it returned for series three in September 2001, following the departures of its original cast members Yvonne Brewster (Ruth Harding), Sarah Manners (Joanna Helm), Akbar Kurtha (Rana Mistry), Mark Frost (Steve Rawlings), and Jacqueline Leonard (Caroline Powers) during series two.
