Freewheelers

Crafted with a dash of wit and a sprinkle of espionage by the mastermind Chris McMaster, ‘Freewheelers’ is what happens when you mix James Bond with the boundless energy of teenage rebellion. This adventure series, tailored for older children, showcases a rotating squad of savvy teens roped in by the ever-so-stoic Colonel Buchan (played by the unflappable Ronald Leigh-Hunt) to thwart the dastardly deeds of villains, including the perennial favourite neo-Nazi, von Gells (a delightfully wicked Geoffrey Toone). The early episodes saw Tom Owens, Gregory Phillips, and Mary Maude playing the teen trio, bringing a fresh-faced zeal to the screen. As time marched on, the baton was passed to Chris Chittell, Adrian Wright, and Wendy Padbury, who kept the spirit of adventure alive.
