General Election 1964 (1)
Broadcast
1964
The 1964 results programme is the oldest results show to survive in the BBC archives fully in tact. It was to be Richard Dimbleby's final election night programme as he died the following year. It was also the first election night appearance of Richard's son David, who reported on the Exeter count. The left clip is the start of the programme and the right clip features Robin Day, also making his BBC election night debut, being told not to interrupt quite so often by the then deputy Labour Party leader George Brown.
