Handover to LWT

Our earliest example of a handover between the two rival London companies. From July 1968 to December 1981, the appointed time for the switchover was 7pm on a Friday evening. The very first Friday of 1981 sees Philip Elsmore passing the baton to Verity Martindill at LWT, via a jazzy South Bank start-up film and a trailer of weekend highlights voiced by Peter Lewis. The very first LWT show of 1981 turns out to be 'The Making of The Empire Strikes Back.'
