I Didn’t Know You Cared

Peter Tinniswood created and wrote this saga about the war between the sexes in Northern England as seen through the eyes of the Brandon family. The family was dour and appeared to enjoy being miserable in comfort. They consisted of the moderately amiable Mr Brandon (John Comer), his matronly wife (Liz Smith), their dreamy but wouldn’t-be-executive son Carter (Stephen Rea), and seedy old misogynist Uncle Mort (Robin Bailey) who shuffled around in muffler and flat cap. The series also featured Carter’s girlfriend Pat (Anita Carey).

A total of 27 episodes were broadcast over 4 series between 1975 and 1979.
