Whispers of a home entertainment explosion from ITN here. Their report demonstrates the rise of interactivity in the home via PC and television. Cable certainly did play a grounding part in the rise of the Internet (as we know it now) and the speed and quality of TV certainly took off. However, as with most new technologies, this was not made available to the wider general public for many years and, in the case of cable TV, still isn't available to anyone outside of a main city. However, this did give a glimpse into the everyday services we now take for granted, such as the BBC/ITV players, online shopping and video streaming services such as Netflix.
