The Millennium Bug

An ITN report on the so-called "Millenium Bug" that was doomed to crash computer operated systems across the world and bring chaos to billions. In reality, it affected a few million people worldwide. This ranged from the Navel Observatory in America reporting the date as 19100, to bus ticket machines in Australia failing. The most humorous examples I found of fails were courts in North Korea and Spain summoning people to court on 3rd January 1900. Billions of pounds were spent in the UK for a problem that technically didn't exist on a grand scale. Most computerised machines such as hospital equipment and air traffic control systems simply carried on working as normal, albeit in some cases with a simple software upgrade.
