WCBS underwent a big change in 1997, along with the CBS O&Os in LA and Chicago. All three adopted the "CBS 2" name for the station, new names for their newscasts, and new renditions of the WBBM/CBS O&O music. WCBS went to "News 2" and a "more news in less time" format that included a much higher story count, a WWOR-style rundown, and incessant reminders that WCBS has "more news in less time, EVERYTIME."
