2001 was to be a significant year for the BBC in the South East (Oxfordshire having been transferred to BBC South a year earlier. Monday September 3rd 2001 saw the launch of BBC South East, a dedicated service for Kent and East Sussex. Newsroom South East continued to cover the capital until it was re-branded BBC London, or simply BBC LDN on Monday 1st October 2001.
