The 205 was launched in 1983, and was originally available only in 5 door form, the 3 door body style came after in 1984/1985. The car helped turn round Peugeot's reputation and finances. What Car? magazine voted it 'Car of the Year' in 1984 and 'Car of the decade' by Car magazine in 1990.
