Between making Billion Dollar Brain (1967) and Women In Love (1969), Ken Russell did this piece for Omnibus about the composer Frederick Delius, who towards the end of his life, was blind and fearer he could not compose music anymore. Enter Eric Fenby, a theatre organist from Scarborough who acted as Delius’ amanuensis and transcribed his music to paper. Russell said this was one of his finest films.
