Sports Personality of the Century

To mark the Millennium, BBC Sport changed the format from a review of the sporting year to a lookback at the sporting achievements of the century. This was underlined by the use of the BBC's Millennium ident at the start of the programme. The presentation of the Sports Personality of 1999 did take place but it took second fiddle to Mohammad Ali being voted as the Sports Personality of the Century.
