Martin & Frost's Glasgow branch is a listed building, being the first one constructed in the city using a cast iron frame, now a pub called The Crystal Palace. SSEB (Southern Scotland Electricity Board) was a nationalised company. Note the shots of the now closed Longannet Power Station (coal fired) and Ravenscraig Steel Works. Ravenscraig was shut just as Scottish Power was privatised and it was the firm's biggest customer, leading to fears the new firm wouldn't be profitable. Also, Presto had swallowed up the smaller local supermarket chain of Templeton's not long before this.
