Morning newscasts had begun to grow in popularity throughout the 1990s, and by 1992 Today In New York was expanded to an hour-long newscast airing before the Today show. Tony Guida was moved to mornings, and paired with Jane Hanson. The likeable Ira Joe Fisher is here as a feature correspondent, reporting near the site of Today’s original windowed studios – as one can expect, this hour served as a local celebration of the network show’s 40th anniversary.
