For the 4th film in the BBC's annual Ghost Story for Christmas strand, director Lawrence Gordon Clark adapted M.R. James' 1904 story The Treasure of Abbot Thomas, which tells the story of the Reverend Justin Somerton (Michael Bryant) who along with his protege Peter Dattering (Paul Lavers) go in search of a hidden treasure hidden by a disgraced abbot.
