Originally part of Nationwide and the short-lived Sixty Minutes, Watchdog became a programme in its own right in 1985. The programme followed a fifteen minute weekdays format in late 1986 and 1987 as part of the new BBC1 daytime line-up and was broadcast each weekday morning at 8.40am.
