As with the opening day of 1982, BBC TV began its coverage of the 1986 tournament with the winning moment from the previous year's final. Incidentally, Steve Rider introduced the first week's coverage this year. Steve was not to present another Wimbledon until 1998 due to Des being at the World Cup in France.
