In February 1998, Wipeout was moved to a daytime slot. The late, great Bob Monkhouse took over from Paul Daniels as host of this answer elimination quiz in which contestants might win their ‘Wipeout Wings’ to their preferred holiday destination. Former Thames Television announcer Tom Edwards introduced the contestants at the beginning of each show. Bob Monkhouse died of prostate cancer eight months after finishing the final series of Wipeout. He was seventy-five. Wipeout was filmed in the former Studio A of BBC Manchester.
