WNBC Telop

In television terms, a “telop” is simply a slide broadcast onto the screen, typically for station identification purposes. Usually this was accompanied by an announcement, often live, either reading the station’s legal ID or advertising a program airing on the station (as seen here). These largely faded out through the 1980s, replaced with short video idents.
