STER

Stichting Ether Reklame – STER is responsible for providing the commercials to public channels, Ned1,2 and 3. It also provides the commercials to all PO's outlets – radio, television, national and regional. It began in 1967 when television commercials started in the 70's

Early 1980s

Commercials were shown between these graphic 'spots' a graphic line, circle or some kind of drawing.

1980s – 2000

Joop Geesink was a man who said, "let's do something nice in the commercial blocks" He developed the idea of 'Loekie de leeuw' (Loekie the Lion) to do all kind of funny things together with his friend, a little mouse and other characters. They used a lion because it is also a symbol in the flag of the Queen. It's also the reason you'll see (orange) lions in soccer. Loekie comes from the english words 'Look-He!'. He was a real success and people watched him, and all the commercials! STER decided to drop Loekie after 30 years on air.
