RTL created RTL5 in 1994, as a channel aimed at the intellectual man. This profile didn't work and in just a couple of months and introduced a new format with the first reality-programming in the Netherlands. An instant hit. But RTL 5 changed their profile and idents sometimes 2 times a year. As RTL added a third channel to their group (Veronica, now Yorin) in 1996 RTL5 was not allowed to have a marketshare higher than 4%. The programming director of RTL5, Fons van Westerloo, went to SBS in 1996 to launch their first channel: SBS6.

In 2002 a new logo is introduced. A vast selection of idents and break bumpers were made. Bold simple graphic animations where the RTL5 logo comes to life in various forms, as seen below.. (Thanks to Roland ten Hove for these 40 clips)
