Originally broadcast as HTV News from Bristol, the news in the west was branded HTV News for around 15 years, briefly becoming The West Tonight and then back to HTV News. Following the purchase of HTV by Carlton and the merging of the news output with Westcountry TV. It eventually became The West Tonight and ultimately, ITV News West Country. ITV News West Country is broadcast from studios in Brislington, Bristol, with district reporters and camera crews based in newsrooms at Plymouth, Exeter, Truro, Taunton, Swindon and Gloucester.
