Since the 1950s, ITV has delivered local news tailored to its diverse regions. Various ITV franchises have catered to these regions, with some experiencing several changes in franchise ownership over the past decades. Over time, each region has cultivated a distinct identity, and the enduring presence of long-term TV presenters has endeared them to viewers, who came to regard these familiar faces as part of their own families. In contemporary broadcasting, the landscape has shifted somewhat. Regional news is now consolidated under the banner of ITV News, which operates 12 regional newsrooms that generate content for a number of sub-regional audiences.
