Written by Graham White, ‘The Gaffer’ stars Bill Maynard in the role of Fred Moffat, the owner of a perpetually struggling small business teetering on the edge of catastrophe. The series also includes notable performances by Russell Hunter as Harry, the diligent union shop steward, and Pat Ashton as Fred’s secretary, Betty. Spanning three series, a total of 20 episodes were broadcast between 1981 and 1983.
