On Monday 9th September 1985, BBC One introduced umbrella branding for children’s programmes, almost three years after ITV. An unknown presenter, Phillip Schofield, was chosen to front what initially was known as BBC Children’s Presentation. Philip would introduce programmes in-vision, and live, from “The Broom Cupboard” – in reality the BBC One continuity desk.
Debbie Flint and Simon Parkin joined the team in 1986.
