Angela Rippon

Former Westward and BBC Spotlight reporter, Angela went on to present the BBC News (being the first female newsreader on Prime Time BBC News), including the 9 O’clock News. During this period, Angela made a famous appearance on the Morecambe and Wise show! She also presented the BBC’s Come Dancing programme! In 1983, Angela was one of the “Famous Five” big names that launched TV-am. She didn’t stay long! Since TV-am, Angela has presented a varied range of programmes, including Day Out for BBC West, Watchdog Healthcheck and Holiday. Angela is also Chairman of the English National Ballet. Angela presented the news bulletins on Channel 4’s Big Breakfast for a short time in the late 1990’s. Angela joined ITN as one of the “Star Presenters” to cover the “War on Saddam” on the ITV News Channel.
