BBC1 Schools & Colleges 1974 – 1977

The more famous BBC Schools diamond sequence introduced in Autumn term 1974 (normally September) was initially mechanical. It also heralded the introduction of colour to BBC Schools broadcasts. The word “colour” was a subtle hint to those still using black and white that perhaps it was time to change. Between 1974 and 1975 the background was black with blue diamonds and text. Between (assumed) Autumn term 1975 and Summer term 1977 the diamonds were yellow on a black background.
