Between (assumed) Autumn term 1975 and Summer term 1977 the diamonds were yellow on a black background. One minute before the programme the diamonds would start to animate leading to the final disappearance. Two pieces of music were used with the Diamond, depending on whether the following programme was for secondary or primary-age audiences.

Rare static captions..
BBC2 Schools ~ Junction Extremely rare image of the BBC2 version of the diamond from around 1975 – 1977. This was captured on a Super 8 camera in the 70s! It is not clear how often it was used but certainly not often. It was also likely to be a static image. Perhaps it was made available should BBC1 Schools move to BBC2 for whatever reason (e.g. major event/emergency etc…).
BBC1 Schools Static Caption ~ Very interesting static caption used briefly in 1975. Interesting in the sense that the type-face used wasn’t generally adopted by the BBC until 1981. However, the type-face was used for static slides and themed presentation from the mid seventies.
