Carlton (London) 1996 – 1999 Branding

By all accounts, the 1995 idents were not deemed exciting enough. Lambie-Nairn, responsible for the original Carlton idents, devised forty quirky new animations, which made their debut on Monday 25th November 1996. The idents where about the programmes, thus making the programmes the stars, thus it got away from people, while making the presentation a little brasher and more pacey. They remained in use until Friday 3rd September 1999.

TVARK presents a selection of examples below, many with clean audio, also five Christmas idents. Several of these idents were specific to certain ITV peak-time series, but TVARK does not currently have the idents designed for Coronation Street, Emmerdale, The Bill, Soldier Soldier, Videotech, Carlton Country/Peak Practices and Home and Away. The latter had the Carlton logo shown upside down. We would be most-grateful for any donations.
